A program of Family Services, SNUG is an evidence-based street outreach program based on the Cure Violence Model in Chicago, which treats gun violence like a disease by identifying its causes and interrupting its transmission. The program focuses on youth between the ages of 14 and 24 who are at high risk for involvement with gun violence.
A few days after each gun violence event, SNUG hosts a public vigil, lasting about half an hour, on the street at the site of that violence. Our church participates in each vigil with at least two church members present. If you are interested in participating, send your email address to church member Christopher Duncan at csduncan1234@gmail.com. When he receives notice of an impending vigil, Christopher emails everyone the location, date, and time of the upcoming vigil.
Together, we can take a stand to stop the pain of gun violence and to to support healing the community.
