A Message from Our Pastor, Reverend Heather A. Moody….

Dear Friend,

Welcome to our church!

First Congregational United Church of Christ is a place where you will find a compassionate community, vibrant worship, and a deep-rooted commitment to social justice that began with our founding in 1837 as an anti-slavery church.

We listen for God’s voice in the witness of Biblical prophets and we look to the ministry, teaching, and example of Jesus Christ to show us how to live lives grounded in love, justice, compassion, peace, and service.  We also recognize God is still speaking to us today amidst the ups and downs of everyday life.  We don’t claim to know exactly what God is saying, but we do try our best to listen.   Because we encourage one another to ask questions and explore doubts, you’ll find a wide diversity of views here and a willingness to listen to one another.  You’ll also find people who think faith is more of an action verb rooted in love than a prescribed set of beliefs.

If you are hungry for spiritual nourishment, if you long to grow in relationship with the One who calls you by your name, if you have been searching for a community where you can bring your whole self to the table, then come and check us out.  We mean it when we say no matter who you are, no matter where you are on life’s journey, you are welcome here!

May God’s peace and hope be with you,
Rev. Heather
